In tribute to ‘Miss Dior’, the Maison’s first fragrance, Sotheby’s Paris to offer a one-of-a- kind gold coin weighing 2KG, minted. A part of the proceeds from the sale to go to Fleurs d’Exception du Pays de Grasse, an association aiming to protect, promote and bring the flowers of Grasse to their full potential. Supporting young farmers, fostering the transmission of traditional expertise, and advocating for local heritage, the not-for-profit organisation works to safeguard the environment and biodiversity.
Over the last few years, the “Excellence à la Française” series has been combining the extraordinary distinction of Monnaie de Paris with that of each of the 70 establishments on the Comité Colbert to form a unique collection highlighting the crafts and unique heritage of French luxury. In 2021, Monnaie de Paris joined Maison Dior to pay tribute to the floral scent and beautigul bottle of Miss Dior.
Combining coin minting and founding techniques for the first time, the ornately decorated gold coin features the shape of the bottle of the first perfume that Christian Dior created, as well as other Dior symbols such as the star, the half-bow, houndstooth check, and a bouquet of roses.
Designed by Joaquin Jimenez, general minter of Monnaie de Paris, the exceptional coin will be presented in a case shaped like a sewing box. Th first coin ever presented by Monnaie de Paris at auction, offered in a single-lot sale on March 2, 2022 as part of Paris Luxury Week. (estimated price: 200.000 – 300.000€).
