International Women’s Day 2022

The theme for International Women’s Day 2022 (March 8th) is #BreakTheBias. Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality, celebrate women’s achievement, raise awareness against bias and take action for equality.

 

 

 

Lancôme partners with Canadian Women’s Foundation to help empower women through training, entrepreneurship and mentorship programs a part of the brand’s Write Her Future initiative. Through the duration of the partnership, 2% of proceeds from Lancôme’s bestselling products on lancôme.ca (La Vie Est Belle Eau De Parfum, Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum, and Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation) will be donated to the Canadian Women’s Foundation. In addition, 100% of proceeds from purchases of Lancôme’s special edition fragrance, Oui, La Vie Est Belle at Shopper’s Drugmart will go to the foundation for up to a maximum of $10,000  from March 27 – April 23.

 

 

In honour of International Women’s Day, Bijoux Birks is launching two new limited-edition necklaces. The Bijoux Birks Limited Edition Women’s Day Pendants are available in 18kt yellow gold ($820) and sterling silver ($320). The horizontal bar necklace is engraved with the phrase, me + you = us. As part of the ongoing partnership with the Canadian Women’s Foundation, 100 per cent of the net proceeds from the sale of each necklace will be donated to programs that help girls and gender-diverse young people.

 

 

Lifestyle brand Obakki and founder, Treana Peake has introduced a new sustainable shopping bag to the brand’s ethical shopping experience. Created from recycled elephant dung, the brand has partnered with groups of widows in the villages of the Western region of Uganda to help support the entrepreneurial efforts of these women as they navigate the conservation and human-wildlife conflict in their area.

 

 

In honour of International Women’s Day, the size-inclusive brand Smash + Tess has teamed up with Barbie® to create a limited-edition capsule collection. Smash + Tess and Barbie® launched this collection as part of a shared commitment to empower women to live big lives with ease, cultivate a positive self-image, and nurture a generation that can. As part of this commitment, Smash + Tess will make a $10,000 donation to Girl Up, a movement to advance girls’ skills, rights, and opportunities to be leaders.

 

 

Big. Strong. Woman. is a new film celebrating female strength by Knix, the intimate apparel brand. The ethos of this film celebrates the magnitude of female strength in all its forms through a montage of intimate and powerful moments provided by the Knix community and some notable celebrities.

 

 

As a female-owned and led brand, uplifting and supporting women is of the utmost importance to JB Skin Sävvi.  In honour of International Women’s Day, the brand connected with 5 women of various backgrounds and ages across its hometown of Quebec to discover and celebrate their unique skin journey. This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #BreakTheBias and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to shine a light on the female-owned Canadian men’s skincare brand, Blair + Jack, founded by Dr. Bimpe Ayeni. Dr. Bimpe Ayeni, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who spends her days helping women overcome low self-esteem by restoring their self-confidence and comfort in their own bodies after experiencing challenges such as breast cancer and childbirth. Dr. Ayeni wanted to give that same feeling of self-confidence to men after her husband Ade, came to her frustrated with the painful shaving bumps he couldn’t get rid of. She contacted a pharmacist she had worked with for many years and together they developed a formula that had impressive and quick results– And just like that Blair + Jack was born!
