According to a Wellesley Institute report last fall, out of the 20 long-term care homes in Ontario with the longest wait times, 12 are ethnospecific or religious homes. In fact, five of those 12 homes are designated mostly for Chinese Canadians and have a median wait time of up to four years. Compared to the provincial average of 5 months, the wait time for a Yee Hong long-term care bed can be as long as 10 years!
