Cheers to Sober October: Toronto’s Zero-Proof Drinking Guide

by Iris

Sober October is giving Toronto diners a fresh way to explore the city’s vibrant beverage scene, with sophisticated spirit-free cocktails, non-alcoholic wines and inventive low-ABV creations taking centre stage. This October, 156 ONEFIVESIX, Bar Allegro, Odd Duck, Bar Pompette, Suite 115, Little Sister, Lyla, Radici Project and Miku are putting their own spin on zero-proof drinking, showcasing thoughtful flavours and refined craftsmanship that prove a memorable night out doesn’t have to revolve around alcohol.

At 156 ONEFIVESIX, MICHELIN Guide–Recommended and home to award-winning beverage director Sharon Chan, the Spicy Margarita ($17) remains a favourite. Made with HP Agave, gochugaru, pineapple and lime, the spirit-free cocktail delivers a bright, fruity profile with a welcome kick of heat.

Newly MICHELIN Guide–Recommended Bar Allegro offers two polished alternatives: the Milk Punch ($16), a silky clarified blend of Earl Grey, grapefruit and lemon, and the Nonamaretto Sour ($17), a rich and velvety alcohol-free take on the classic.

Odd Duck celebrates Sober October with a specially curated selection of non‑alcoholic wine from Oddbird as a part of their “Trust Us” dining experience pairings, alongside their signature mocktail, the Frequent Flyer, all available throughout October.

Ranked No. 2 on Canada’s 100 Best Bars, No. 8 on North America’s 50 Best Bars 2026, and No. 55 on The World’s 50 Best Bars, Bar Pompette highlights the Provence en Fleur ($15) a thoughtful non‑alcoholic option designed with the same level of craft and detail as the rest of their acclaimed beverage program.

No. 13 on Canada’s Best Bars and No. 74 on North America’s Best Bars, Suite 115 offers two $18 creations with plenty of character. The Andes Mountain Fizz combines lulo, cucumber, white bitter soda and chamomile, while the smoky Whispering Grove layers Lapsang Souchong, mushroom, fig leaf, whey and citrus for an earthy, umami finish.

For Dutch-Indonesian favourites and tropical flavours, Little Sister brings three zero-proof choices to both its Portland and Yonge locations. The Ginger Pom-o-Rita, Pineapple Mint Nojito and Bandrek Stormy use Undone non-alcoholic spirits to recreate familiar cocktail structures, with flavours ranging from charred pineapple and mint to ginger, pomegranate and Indonesian spices.

Accredited as one of Foodism’s 23 Best Restaurants, Lyla Toronto offers one of the city’s most polished zero‑proof programs, featuring a refined lineup of non‑alcoholic wines from Niagara’s Vineland Estates Winery including Pinot Noir, Rosé, and Sparkling Rosé, alongside their house mocktail, the Côte d’Azur.

Recently named a finalist for Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants, Radici Project takes a kitchen-driven approach to zero-proof drinking. Its beverage program incorporates house-brewed kombuchas, created by co-owner and head chef Emiliano del Frate, into a thoughtful lineup of low-proof drinks under 1% ABV.

Meanwhile, Miku Toronto brings its signature Japanese precision to four refreshing zero-proof options. The Aomori-jito ($14) combines cranberry, blackcurrant, apple, mint and ginger ale; the Moro Paloma ($12) pairs yuzu and grapefruit with HP Juniper Agave; the Okinawa Punch ($13) blends jasmine, pineapple and watermelon; and the Tōji Fizz ($13) rounds out the lineup with a crisp, sparkling finish.

And for those looking to recreate the experience at home, Giffard’s Non-Alcoholic Liqueurs offer six fruit- and botanical-based flavours—Ginger, Pineapple, Spritz, Elderflower, Grapefruit and Triple Sec. Crafted using traditional maceration techniques, they can be enjoyed with sparkling water or non-alcoholic bubbly, or used to give classics such as a Paloma, Mai Tai or Daiquiri a zero-proof twist.
