Hello Nori Says Hello To Toronto

by Leslie Yip

Hello Nori is set to bring its distinctive hand roll dining experience to Toronto, opening its doors at 648 King Street W. The restaurant will offer a fresh take on traditional Japanese cuisine, blending quality ingredients from Canada and Japan to create unique culinary moments. With operating hours from 11 AM to 11 PM, Sunday through Thursday, and extended to midnight on weekends, Hello Nori aims to redefine how Torontonians experience sushi.

At Hello Nori, hand rolls are an art form. Each one is meticulously prepared to ensure the nori stays crisp, the rice is warm, and the neta (ingredients) are always at their freshest. The menu features select imports of Ora King Salmon, Toro, Scallops, and Shrimp, sourced with sustainability in mind through partnerships like Ocean Wise.

“Our culinary team is truly inspired by Toronto’s vibrant food scene and looks forward to sharing our take on Japanese cuisine,” said Corporate Chef Jay Pugong. “We hope to connect with the community by offering simple, yet exceptional, hand roll experiences that celebrate culture, craft, and quality.”

The brand originates from Vancouver, where it has thrived with locations in Robson, Brentwood, and Richmond Centre. Now, with plans to open three more Toronto locations by the end of 2025, Hello Nori is poised to make a significant mark on the city’s culinary landscape. The King Street flagship will feature a sophisticated design, blending wood, stone, and water to reflect Toronto’s dynamic architecture and diverse environment.

“As we expand beyond Vancouver, this year has felt like a significant milestone,” shared Isaac Olivier, Director of Operations. “Our goal is to grow to 100 outlets worldwide, and the rapid opening of three new locations in under a year brings that vision closer to reality. We remain committed to providing the highest quality in both product and experience, ensuring these values are at the heart of every new Hello Nori location.”

With a dedication to supporting local communities and promoting sustainability, Hello Nori is not just introducing a restaurant but is aiming to become part of Toronto’s evolving culinary story.
