As a tribute to Chinese astrology, the Reverso Tribute Enamel created at our Atelier des Métiers Rares offers a superb setting for the snake, the zodiac animal for 2025. On both the front and reverse, the deep black dials are Grand Feu enamelled. Smooth and shiny, this color is obtained after several stages of enamelling and successive rounds in the kiln (800°C). On the reverse, the engraving of a majestic snake surrounded by flames took our craftsmen over 80 hours to complete. On either side of the elegantly understated front and meticulously engraved reverse, the black alligator strap adds the final touch of sophistication. The Spirit of Big Bang’s signature open dial revealing the inner working of the chronograph movement is inhabited by a golden snake. Striking and three-dimensional, the gold-plated snake is crafted with lifelike details that have been engraved with astounding precision thanks to the latest advancements in laser technologies. Carefully positioned as if slithering around the chronograph’s three counters, the serpent immediately catches the eye and intrigues.

The Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 Year of the Snake features a stainless steel case with a diameter of 37 millimeters and a burgundy dial. Situated at 12 o’clock, the moon phase display works so precisely that it only deviates from the actual orbit of Earth’s satellite by one day after 122 years. The golden moon and stars stand out against the burgundy backdrop and harmonize beautifully with the gold-plated hands and appliques. The watch is powered by the IWC-manufactured 32800 caliber with automatic winding and a power reserve of five days. A special highlight is hidden on the back: the oscillating mass, made of solid 18-carat 5N gold, is crafted in the shape of a snake, a nod to the Lunar New Year.
