To celebrate the arrival of the Lunar Year of the Snake, a grand feast is a must as it symbolizes abundance in the coming year and represents a time of reunion and sharing with loved ones.
EliteGen has partnered with Toronto’s newly acclaimed fine dining restaurant, aKin, to offer an exclusive Lunar New Year dinner for two for one of our lucky Insider Club members. The winner and their guest will be among the first to experience aKin’s Lunar New Year menu, which will run from January 30 to February 13. This 10-course blind tasting menu is valued at $550 (275 per person). Get ready for one delightful surprise after another!
The theme of this limited-time menu is a modern reinterpretation of traditional Lunar New Year dishes, featuring symbolic ingredients commonly enjoyed during the celebration, such as lo bak go, fat choy, fish, abalone, eight-treasure duck, and tangyuan. The meal begins with the first course: five auspicious vegetable snacks, thoughtfully designed to be vegetarian in keeping with the Buddhist tradition of avoiding killing for the first meal. We will keep the rest of the menu a surprise for you, but you will find each dish a masterpiece, delivering bold, layered flavours and visually stunning presentations.
aKin is a modern Asian fine dining destination created by the visionary duo Alvin Leung, a three Michelin-starred chef, and Eric Chong, the first winner of MasterChef Canada. The name “aKin” captures the essence of this partnership. On one level, it signifies being “of similar nature or character,” reflecting the chefs’ commitment to modernizing traditional dishes while staying true to their roots. On another, it symbolizes a bond akin to family—though Alvin and Eric aren’t related by blood, their shared passion for culinary artistry has forged a profound connection. This theme is physically represented in the restaurant’s centerpiece: a DNA-inspired custom light fixture, illuminating the heart of aKin’s elegant space.
