RIMOWA Opens The Doors of Its Canadian Factory

by Iris

Since its establishment in Cologne in 1898, RIMOWA has stood the test of time by placing quality and innovation at its core to create functional tools for a lifetime of movement. Now, in honour of LVMH’s initiative, Les Journées Particulières, which was created to showcase remarkable artisanal excellence and craftmanship found at its Maisons, RIMOWA will open its factory in Cambridge, Ontario to the public for the first time on October 15 and 16 to celebrate and explore the remarkable artisanal excellence, craftsmanship, and to experience their German heritage.

As the only RIMOWA factory with the technology expertise to produce both aluminum and polycarbonate suitcases, RIMOWA will guide guests through the 80 percent handcrafted manufacturing process for each of its core collections. Visitors may be surprised to learn and see that on average it takes about an hour and a half, 200 components and 90 steps to build one suitcase. A first-hand experience unlike any other, RIMOWA will also disclose some of its secrets, reveal rare archive pieces, and showcase expert craftsmen in our client care facility repairing cases.
