Let’s End the Stigma Around Menopause

by editor

Many women may feel insecure about their bodies and sex lives, particularly as they approach menopause. As hormones change, so can one’s emotions, weight, and intimate areas.

While the range of symptoms and their severity may be different for everyone, the most common complaints include Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI), labial hypertrophy, weakened vaginal walls, and vaginal dryness. Sex may also feel less enjoyable, both emotionally and physically, which can put a strain on one’s relationship. It can also inspire poor self-esteem, which can have physical effects.

“Women shouldn’t feel embarrassed or ashamed to talk about their pelvic floor issues,” says Dr. Jessica Shepherd, Board Certified OB/GYN and Tightra Spokesperson. “Bladder leakage and intimacy issues can directly affect one’s self-esteem and significantly impact lifestyle choices. It is not something to be ignored. Luckily, there are many treatments that can help, such as  Tightra, a new home-use medical aesthetics device.”

Tightra is one of the latest products from Silk’n and its parent company, Home Skinovations, who have been at the forefront of medical aesthetic innovations for more than 10 years. Tightra uses Radio Frequency, which flows between the device electrodes, producing a heat energy that stimulates cells. This increases the formation and construction of collagen and elastin fibres, reducing urinary incontinence and improving bladder control. It also enhances natural lubrication, increases sensation, and improves external appearance.

Radio Frequency energy has been used by the medical community for many years. Cleared by Health Canada, Tightra is safe, effective, and painless. There are 16 built-in heat sensors that continuously monitor the temperature of the skin during use. A Touch Sensor ensures the device is only active when proper skin contact is achieved. Plus, the auto shut-off function automatically switches the device off after the recommended treatment duration of 20 minutes. For best results, use the device three times per week for four weeks. Once your condition has improved, use the device every few weeks as needed for maintenance.

“Pelvic floor physical therapy is a great way to address or identify the areas in the pelvis that need help,” says Dr. Shepherd. “Tightra also works on those muscles that are lacking the ability to do what they were made to do. In the past, women seeking this type of treatment had to visit a doctor’s office. Tightra offers women the option of pursuing an effective solution in the privacy of their own home.”
