Online bidders from 48 countries flocked to Christie’s recent Hong Kong-based Top Of The Time sale, culminating in a Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon selling for US$5,815,300, making it the most expensive watch ever sold at auction online.

The key lots at the US$ 8.4m auction also included a Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Minute Repeater, a Gerald Genta Perpetual Calendar Minute Repeater, an Andersen Genève Minute Repeater and a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tourbillon.

“The Top of the Time demonstrates the power of Christie’s online sale platform,” said Alexandre Bigler, vice-president and head of watches for Christie’s Asia Pacific division. “There continues to be an extremely vibrant market for watches around the world, evidenced through the avid global bidding this sale witnessed.”
