In partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), Bijoux Birks has introduced a new Birks Bee Chic For A Cause Charity Bracelet. 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of each bracelet, which retails for $450, will be donated to the NCC to help protect the country’s vital bee population. The bracelet is part of the 30 piece Birks Bee Chic Collection. From Tuesday, August 10th, 2021, until Tuesday, August 24th 2021, 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of any item from the Birks Bee Chic collection will also be donated to the NCC.
The new Birks Bee Chic For A Cause Charity Bracelet features an 18K yellow gold hexagonal charm, engraved with “BIRKS FOR BEES”, on a black, waxed-cotton band. This is the second style designed to raise funds and help protect wild bees and other pollinators. The first bracelet, a sterling silver version, was introduced in 2019.
The Birks Bee Chic collection design elements highlight the hexagon, a natural form found in the nests of some bee species, drawing awareness to wild bees and their importance to the health and sustainability of the Canadian environment. Wild bees play a critical role in the pollination of trees, flowers and crops. Habitat loss, climate change and environmental pollutants are rapidly decreasing their numbers. To help stop and reverse the decline, Bijoux Birks is committed to raising awareness and has partnered with the NCC.
Beyond the NCC, Bijoux Birks is proud to home beehives in Montreal and Toronto, both managed by Alvéole. The Montreal hives live on top of the Birks Group Inc. head office, and the Toronto hives are on the rooftop of the Shangri-La Hotel. Urban beekeeping supports the production of local honey, pollination, and urban greening. Urban areas interestingly make for an ideal bee habitat.
Bijoux Birks also supports The Honey Bee Research Centre at the University of Guelph. The Centre conducts research and focuses on all areas of bee health. Currently, the organization is working to build a state-of-the-art facility for essential pollinators and the people who care for them.
