For a few days this summer, OMEGA seemed to take over the internet.
Its latest collaboration with Swatch—the limited-edition MoonSwatch 1969—required fans to answer 32 Apollo-themed questions for the chance to buy one of just 1,969 watches. More than one million entries poured in, proving once again that few watch collections generate excitement quite like the Speedmaster.

But while social media obsessed over the latest MoonSwatch, OMEGA is quietly unveiling something that may prove far more significant for long-term collectors: a completely refreshed Speedmaster 38 mm collection.
The launch introduces seven new references across stainless steel, bicolour and diamond-set editions. Rather than reinventing the Speedmaster, OMEGA has refined it, bringing the smaller 38 mm models visually closer to the legendary Moonwatch. Rounded subdials, the iconic “Dot Over Ninety” tachymeter bezel, a redesigned five-link bracelet and a cleaner dial layout give the collection a stronger family resemblance without sacrificing its own identity.

That connection matters because few watches possess a history as rich as the Speedmaster. Originally introduced in 1957 as a chronograph for racing, it earned immortality after becoming the only watch qualified by NASA for every crewed space mission, accompanying astronauts all the way to the Moon. Along the way, it developed one of the watch world’s most passionate communities, with enthusiasts around the globe celebrating #SpeedyTuesday every week by sharing photographs and stories of their treasured timepieces.
The new collection builds upon that legacy with thoughtful rather than dramatic changes. Stainless-steel models are offered with black, white or silvery dials, while bi-colour versions combine steel with OMEGA’s proprietary Moonshine Gold or Sedna Gold. At the more luxurious end of the range, diamond-set models pair sparkling bezels with ice-blue PVD or white motherof-pearl dials.

Power comes from OMEGA’s Co-Axial movements, with six models housing the Calibre 3330 and the black-dial, no-date version fitted with the Calibre 3332.
Sometimes the biggest launches are not the loudest. While the MoonSwatch collaboration captured headlines, these seven new Speedmasters demonstrate the enduring appeal of the watch that inspired it all—refining one of OMEGA’s greatest icons for a new generation of collectors.
