Harkening to its roots in the art of travel, Louis Vuitton’s City Guides are a series of travel books that offer insider recommendations for the best hotels, restaurants, shops, and cultural sites in various cities
worldwide. Since their inception in 1998, the guides have become a staple for luxury travellers seeking curated, stylish city experiences.

They stand out by providing recommendations that go beyond typical tourist spots, and it is not limited to luxury hotels and fine dining. You will find recommendations for the best hot dogs, Jamaican patties
and pho as well. Toronto’s inclusion in the latest edition highlights the city’s growing appeal as a dynamic, culturally rich destination.

Each guide is crafted with contributions from local insiders, including journalists, designers, and experts. The content ranges from the practical—“While Lyft is available, it’s a lot less conspicuous compared to Uber and there it may take longer to be paired with a driver”—to the irreverent—a vending machine in a bookstore on Bloor Street West that spews out a random book for $5? It even shows you how to pack your luggage.

The 320-page Toronto edition features acclaimed novelist, actress and fashion designer Claudia Dey, as well contributions from Isabel Slone, Vidal Wu, Josh Greenblatt and Odessa Paloma Parker, and photography by Mat Jacob.

With vibrant colours, minimalist design and a limited -run, the guides are a beautiful keepsake and gift as well. Available in hardcover, priced at approximately €30 (about CAD $45), they can be purchased online, or at select stores worldwide. You don’t need to be in a specific city to purchase one.

There is also a LV City Guide app, where users can digitally access multiple guides. The app version offers regularly updated information, and it features maps with real-time geolocation tracking, as well as the option to send e-postcards to share places in any of the 35 cities with friends. The guides for all destinations are available in French and English, with those for Beijing, Chengdu, Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris, Rome, Shanghai and Tokyo also available in Chinese.
