Tiffany Timer Reimagines 160 Years of Watchmaking

by Iris

Time has always been part of Tiffany & Co.’s story. To mark the 160th anniversary of the House’s first chronograph, introduced in 1866, Tiffany & Co. unveils a new limited edition of the Tiffany Timer—an expressive timepiece where historic watchmaking, contemporary design and the House’s unmistakable codes come together. More than a celebration of 160 years of chronograph heritage, the new Tiffany Timer Titanium Platinum offers a modern expression of how Tiffany & Co. continues to reinterpret time through design, craftsmanship and innovation.

Following the first Tiffany Timer edition introduced earlier this year, limited to 60 pieces and distinguished by a platinum case and Tiffany Blue® dial, the new Tiffany Timer Titanium Platinum is limited to just 100 pieces and will be available from September 2026. Its 40 mm satin-brushed titanium case is paired with a polished platinum bezel and a dark blue sunray dial, subtly punctuated with Tiffany Blue® accents across the sub-dial markers, outer chronograph seconds track and date display. The result is distinctly Tiffany—refined, unexpected and instantly recognizable.

After Tiffany & Co. began retailing watches in 1847, Charles Lewis Tiffany quickly recognized the growing appetite for precise, finely crafted timepieces. In 1866, the House introduced the Tiffany & Co. Timing Watch, now recognized as Tiffany’s first stopwatch. Two years later, it was renamed the Tiffany & Co. Timer, coinciding with the opening of Tiffany & Co.’s watch assembly workshop in Switzerland.

The House’s commitment to watchmaking continued to grow. In 1874, Tiffany & Co. inaugurated a watchmaking manufacture in Geneva, producing increasingly sophisticated timepieces, including chronographs and calendar watches. More than a century later, this rich heritage continues to shape the House’s approach to horology.

The new Tiffany Timer brings this legacy into a decidedly modern form. Its sculptural 40 mm titanium case features sinuous lines and rounded surfaces, while the curved chronograph pushers follow the contours of the case and double as crown protectors. Beneath the sapphire crystal, the dark blue sunray dial creates a sophisticated backdrop for touches of Tiffany Blue®, recalling the iconic hues that have appeared throughout Tiffany Blue Books over the years.

Through the sapphire crystal case-back, the House’s legendary Bird on a Rock appears perched on the open-worked winding rotor—a playful detail that brings Tiffany’s jewellery heritage directly into the mechanics of the watch. Faithful to Jean Schlumberger’s original Bird on a Rock design, the 1.4 cm-wide bird is sculpted by hand from a solid piece of 18k yellow gold. It is then painstakingly polished using traditional tools, including diamond abrasives and sticks of gentian wood, creating varying degrees of shine that accentuate the bird’s contours. Finally, it takes its place on the oscillating weight, transforming the movement into a miniature stage for one of Tiffany & Co.’s most recognizable motifs.

The case-back is completed with an engraving that reads “Limited edition of 100”—a discreet reminder of the rarity of this extraordinary timepiece.

Inside, the Tiffany Timer Titanium Platinum is powered by an exclusive, customized El Primero 400 automatic chronograph movement, bringing another chapter of celebrated Swiss watchmaking into the design.

First introduced by Zenith in 1969, the El Primero represented a landmark achievement as the world’s first integrated automatic chronograph. Its name, meaning “the first,” remains fitting for a movement that has become one of the most celebrated chronograph calibers in watchmaking history.

The signature three-register layout gives the dial a balanced and intuitive character: chronograph seconds are displayed around the outer track, while chronograph minutes sit at three o’clock, chronograph hours at six o’clock and running seconds at nine o’clock. A date window at six o’clock completes the display.
