Today, the Louis Vuitton Monogram is so instantly recognizable that it’s easy to forget it began as a practical innovation. Created in 1896 to distinguish the House’s trunks and deter counterfeiting, it has become one of fashion’s most enduring symbols, transcending generations and trends.

Rather than simply celebrating its 130th anniversary with new colours or silhouettes, Louis Vuitton chose to revisit the Monogram at its very foundation.
The result is Monogram Emblème, a richly textured jacquard canvas that draws inspiration from the original cotton canvases once wrapped around the House’s historic travel trunks. Woven from a blend of GOTS-certified cotton and linen fibres, the material introduces a tactile quality rarely associated with coated canvas. A denser jacquard weave lends the motif an almost embroidered appearance, while its water-repellent finish ensures the durability expected of a Louis Vuitton creation.

It is this balance of innovation and tradition that best illustrates the House’s enduring savoir-faire. Rather than reinventing an icon, Louis Vuitton has refined it—combining contemporary textile engineering with techniques rooted in its heritage as a trunk maker.
The canvas also showcases a sophisticated palette drawn from the Vuittonnier, the House’s historic colour library. Earlier this year, the Pre-Fall 2026 collection introduced Peuplier, inspired by the wooden framework of Louis Vuitton’s trunks, alongside Rose Ruban, recalling the ribbons that once adorned archival luggage. This fall, the story continues with Monogram Bleu, revived from a 1930s colour register, and Vert Jura, a rich green inspired by the forests surrounding the region where Louis Vuitton was born.

The new canvas now extends across many of the Maison’s most iconic creations—from the Speedy, Alma, Neverfull, Noé and Keepall to the Side Trunk, whose structured silhouette pays tribute to Louis Vuitton’s luggage-making origins. It also appears on shoes, small leather goods and accessories, underscoring that Monogram Emblème is more than a seasonal update. It is a thoughtful evolution of one of luxury’s most enduring signatures, proving that true craftsmanship is never static—it is continually refined, one generation at a time.
