Emirates Team New Zealand Won The PRADA 36th America’s Cup

Rich with history, innovation and prestige, the America’s Cup is one of the world’s oldest and most dramatic sporting events. The legendary sailing duel has been fiercely contested since 1851, and in all the years since then, has only been won by teams from four different countries. This year, the PRADA 36th America’s Cup, with Emirates Team New Zealand winning 7-3 in their series of challenges against the Italian’s, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team. Emirates Team New Zealand were awarded the oldest trophy in international sport, the Auld Mug.

 

 

Emirates Team New Zealand raced in a second generation AC75, which has taken on a traditional Māori name of ‘Te Rehutai’, is one of the world’s fastest and most technically advanced yachts.

A celebration of the 36th America’s Cup presented by Prada, contested by Emirates Team New Zealand in 2021, the Seamaster Planet Ocean America’s Cup Edition pays tribute to OMEGA’s role as Official Timekeeper and draws inspiration from the colours of the event’s logo: an impression of the Auld Mug in red, white and blue.

 

This 43.5 mm timepiece sports a white polished ceramic dial with 36th AMERICA’S CUP transferred in red at 6 o’clock. Circling the striking dial is a blue ceramic (ZrO2) bezel ring with 5-minute countdown and START indication highlighted in liquid ceramic. Its wave-edged caseback features commemorative wording and an America’s Cup logo transferred on the sapphire crystal. Presented on a blue structured rubber strap and powered by OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900, it is a true collectable, appropriately limited to just 2,021 pieces.
