CHANEL partners with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to create the CHANEL Women Writers’ Network, an alumnae program and extension of Share Her Journey’s annual TIFF Writers’ Studio. The CHANEL Women Writers’ Network reinforces the House’s commitment to championing women in the arts and to creating opportunities for their artistic and professional development.

The CHANEL Women Writers’ Network launches as a multi-year philanthropic partnership with TIFF and offers a year-round program to advance the careers of women and non-binary finalists following their participation in the TIFF Writers’ Studio. CHANEL’s participation extends and enriches TIFF’s support for writers and writer-directors by providing funding to facilitate the acceleration and development of their projects and to offer opportunities to connect with a diverse network of mentors and peers. The program includes additional access to script consultants and established screenwriters, peer-to-peer sessions with emerging filmmakers, and a talent summit that allows writers to showcase their work to producers and other industry insiders.
The CHANEL Writers’ Network will also provide eligible TIFF Writers’ Studio alumnae with access to workspace at the TIFF Bell Lightbox and award grants to four participants to further the development of feature-length scripts.
CHANEL’s rich heritage intersects with cinema’s own history, beginning in 1930 with Gabrielle Chanel’s creative collaborations that embraced the new revolutionary artistic medium, and continues today through its contributions to sustaining the vitality of film around the world. This commitment has become one of the House’s signatures, with initiatives that span the restoration and preservation of cinematic masterpieces to programs and sponsorships that empower women and inspire the next generation of cinematic storytellers.
