For Spring Summer 2027, CHANEL Artistic Director of Fashion Activities Matthieu Blazy continues his conversation with Gabrielle Chanel through La Conversation – Part Three: Different Faces of the Same Coin, exploring the many identities and transformations of a woman throughout her life. The collection traces Chanel’s journey from jersey underwear and Edwardian tailoring to her revolutionary interpretation of the suit, reimagining historical elements—including corsetry, peplums, ruffled collars and sculpted bodices—alongside relaxed tailoring, raw-edged gilets, pencil-skirt suits and fluid evening gowns to create a dialogue between masculine and feminine codes.
Lightness and freedom define the collection, with layers of printed silk evoking changing cloud formations and birds such as swifts and swallows appearing across jewellery, embroidery and buttons. The story comes full circle with the new “smocked tweed,” a supple and stretchable take on the iconic Chanel suit designed for movement.
Accessories further connect past and present, from updated flap bags and cloud-inspired designs to a playful birdcage minaudière. Rather than revisiting history, Blazy presents Gabrielle Chanel’s legacy as an evolving story of transformation, self-expression and freedom.
