Arnold & Son HM London Skyline: London on the Wrist

by Iris

Few cities boast a skyline as iconic as London’s. Marking its 260th anniversary, Arnold & Son presents the HM London Skyline, an exceptional limited-edition timepiece that pays homage to the British capital’s rich architectural heritage. Seamlessly blending historical landmarks with contemporary icons, the watch transcends traditional timekeeping to become a luminous portrait of a city shaped by centuries of innovation and culture.

Created in collaboration with The Limited Edition to mark the retailer’s 10th anniversary, the HM London Skyline is a poetic expression of London’s past and present. Limited to just 20 pieces worldwide, the watch transforms the city’s iconic landmarks into a miniature work of art, seamlessly blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary watchmaking excellence.

At first glance, the shimmering blue mother-of-pearl dial showcases London’s historic silhouette. Meticulously rendered architectural icons—including the Palace of Westminster, Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Tower Bridge—stand proudly against a serene sky, celebrating centuries of British history and culture.

As darkness falls, the dial undergoes a dramatic transformation. Thanks to an innovative Super-LumiNova application, London’s modern skyline emerges from the shadows. The illuminated outlines of the London Eye, The Shard, and The Gherkin glow with striking intensity, creating a captivating day-to-night display that reflects the city’s ever-evolving character.

The artistic dial is housed within an elegant 39.5mm case available in either stainless steel or 18ct red gold. Refined proportions, polished surfaces, and gracefully curved lugs ensure exceptional wearability, while each watch is individually numbered and engraved with The Limited Edition’s signature star motif, underscoring its exclusivity.

Turning the watch over reveals the exceptional A&S1001 manufacture calibre through a sapphire crystal caseback. Entirely developed, produced, assembled, and regulated at Arnold & Son’s manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the ultra-thin hand-wound movement measures just 2.7mm thick. Twin barrels deliver an impressive 90-hour power reserve while maintaining outstanding chronometric performance.

The movement is finished to the highest standards of Haute Horlogerie, featuring elegant Côtes de Genève, perlage decoration, hand-finished chamfers, polished edges, and blued screws—details that showcase the brand’s commitment to traditional watchmaking artistry.

Presented on a blue alligator leather strap with a matching pin buckle, the HM London Skyline is available in a strictly limited run of 20 pieces. Priced at GBP 15,000 in stainless steel and GBP 23,500 in 18ct red gold, this exceptional creation offers collectors a rare opportunity to own a watch that celebrates London’s architectural legacy while commemorating two significant milestones in independent watchmaking.
