Along with fine food, fashion and wine, the Italians are renowned for high-performance supercars that are as much show as they are go—cue Lamborghini.

Revuelto HPEV

Temerario HPEV

This iconic Italian marque was founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini to compete with Italian rival Ferrari. The enduring legend is that Enzo Ferrari had snubbed Ferruccio Lamborghini, dismissing his complaints about a faulty clutch in his Ferrari by telling him he knew nothing about sports cars and that he should stick to tractors. Whether fact or myth the brand quickly built a reputation for powerful, mid-mounted engines, then differentiated itself further with the introduction of the iconic Lamborghini Countach in 1974, posters of which were a regular feature on boys’ walls across the world. This generational supercar kicked off the brand’s aggressively louche, angular designs that endure to this day.

Electrified High Performance

Lamborghini has now joined the electrified race as every automaker must and are taking the right approach by employing plug-in hybrid technology, which still enables the engines to produce their fierce, intoxicating exhaust notes while the battery-powered electric motors assist in producing additional power to shock and awe, (see performance figures in the table below).

The Revuelto is Lamborghini’s flagship sports car that they call a High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV), producing an astounding 1,015 horsepower with a classic naturally aspirated V12 engine and three electric motors. This road missile can rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, and sustain speeds of over 350 km/h. To us, it is the best-looking Lamborghini as it retains all the wonderfully extreme design hallmarks in a long, sleek, proportioned package.

The Temerario is the newest Lamborghini, and while smaller than the Revuelto, is almost as quick and will still turn heads. Its plug-in hybrid drivetrain, also an HPEV, includes an all-new, twin-turbo V8 engine mated to three electric motors; this setup makes it nearly as fast as the Revuelto, being able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.7 seconds.

Inside the Temerario, Lamborghini positions the driving experience as a “Pilot interaction.” As such, advanced technologies like the Lamborghini Vision Pack uses 3 cameras to record a view of the road, the passengers and over the driver’s shoulder. For track enthusiasts the circuit recordings are combined and processed with logged performance data to offer helpful driving tips via an on-screen app called Telemetry 2.0.

If you need practicality and two-row seating, the Urus SE Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), is the logical choice for a family-oriented Lamborghini experience. This super SUV is an absolute engineering marvel because it handles like a high-end sports car despite its elevated ride height, and can sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. despite its mass, it allows you to plug the vehicle in for charging to get nearly 60 kilometres of all-electric range.

Elevating the Buying and Ownership Experience

Lamborghini is currently rolling out a new corporate identity, and the latest Canadian dealership receiving upgrades to showcase the changes is Lamborghini Vancouver.

There is now a larger showroom, a renovated space for selecting bespoke options, more service bays (now six), and a full second floor. Intricate, striking interior design details like polygons, sharp forms, and unique diffusions of light and colour add to the premium retail experience.

Lamborghini informed us that it takes between 8 and 18 months after ordering to receive your vehicle (the Temerario may take up to 18 months), but once you own a Lamborghini the brand helps you to fully enjoy your supercar by offering a portfolio of specialized driving programs.

You pay for these programs, but they are worthwhile because you get to operate the vehicles spiritedly the way they were engineered to be driven, enabling you to learn performance driving skills and truly appreciate how advanced these vehicles are in a safe environment. Choose from several programs that include track driving, off-roading and vehicle control on snow and ice.

Visit www.lamborghini.com to see available driving programs. Select the driving Programs page from the menu.
