Tiffany & Co.’s new Schlumberger high jewellery collection celebrates the rich imagination of legendary designer Jean Schlumberger with vivid and lively designs.

The legendary designer Jean Schlumberger.

Schlumberger (1907–1987) was a man of refined taste—an artist who made spectacular jewelled statements with an unparalleled sense of dimension and style. He created some of Tiffany & Co.’s most iconic designs, including the Bird on a Rock clip, paillonné enamel bangles, the Cooper bracelet and bold coloured rings.

Jean Schlumberger set a 128.54-carat fancy yellow diamond in the Ribbon Rosette necklace. Later in 1995, the diamond was reset in the Bird on a Rock brooch.

A superb draftsman, Schlumberger began each design with a drawing to express the purity and grace of the natural forms that caught his eye. He was uninhibited in his conceptualizations of fauna and flora, creating a hybrid of natural forms for his distinctive designs. His works endeared him to celebrities and style icons, including the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy.

This brooch is modelled after the classic Bird on a Rock.

Among the latest pieces of the Schlumberger collection, the sphinx brooch is made with Schlumberger’s renowned paillonné enameling technique. The cricket brooch sparkles with life, the orchid and fruit brooch celebrates the magnificence of nature and the leaf-shaped pendant is pure sculpture. The vine bracelet underscores the exemplary setting.
