CHANEL & Angèle: Nonante-Cinq Tour

by Iris

Last April, the House of CHANEL unveiled its collaboration with Belgian singer-songwriter and musician Angèle – a House ambassador since February 2020 – for her ″Nonante-Cinq Tour″, named after her second album released in December 2021. For this tour, Virginie Viard worked closely with Angèle to create all of her stage costumes, some of which are inspired by CHANEL’s Spring-Summer 1995 Ready-to-Wear collection. This unprecedented wardrobe includes a dozen bespoke looks in a range of colours and materials, combining tweed and sequins, as well as accessories such as boots and sunglasses.

Today CHANEL is presenting a ten-minute film directed by Loïc Prigent, tracing the creative process behind Angèle’s stage outfits. For several months, the director filmed her initial conversations with Virginie Viard and the Creation studio, the preparation of her tour, backstage at her first concert in Reims and her performance at the Parisian festival We Love Green.

″When I talk to Virginie, I feel like we know each other, we understand each other, and it’s easy. She’s such a precious personality for this kind of project,″ says Angèle. ″It was a real collaboration, which made it a human experience and an incredible adventure. In fact it was this bond and the discussions about our shared desires that made it possible to create these costumes for my tour. Wearing unique designs on stage, imagined by CHANEL with this 90’s inspiration that means so much to me… I couldn’t have imagined better.″
