Eataly, the world’s largest Italian marketplace and dining destination, offering those who love a good slice, the opportunity to taste their way through some of Italy’s iconic pizzas. At Eataly Toronto, guests will find three varieties to enjoy, each from different Italian regions.
Pizza Napoletana

Born in Napoli, la pizza Napoletana is one of the most iconic styles of Italian pizza. Shaped by hand into a flat, round disk, the pizza dough is topped with high-quality ingredients and baked for 90 seconds in a blisteringly hot wood-burning oven. The result is a soft, elastic heart with a tall, fluffy crust called the cornicione in Italian. You can find this variety at Eataly Toronto’s La Pizza & La Pasta restaurant.
Pizza alla Pala

Originating in Roman bakeries, pizza alla pala (meaning “paddle pizza” in Italian) was created as a way to use up leftover bread dough. Bakers would stretch the dough lengthwise, top it with fresh ingredients, and serve it by the slice on a wooden paddle. Unlike pizza Napoletana, this style of pizza has a highly-hydrated dough and is cooked in an electric oven resulting in each slice having a soft, fluffy interior and a crispy exterior. This popular Roman street food is available at the Pizza alla Pala counter at Eataly Toronto.
Pizza al Padellino

Traditionally served in Torino, pizza al padellino (or pan pizza) has a thick, soft crust that’s been slightly browned on the outside while baking. This northern Italian-style pizza is baked in small, round pans and can be topped with a variety of ingredients, from meats such as prosciutto to fresh cheeses such as mozzarella. Enjoy this favourite at Eataly Toronto’s Il Patio di Eataly with Aperol located outdoors on Bay & Bloor and La Piazza located on their second floor.
