Food Is Love, Galya Loves Food

by Iris

Mother and daughter team takes Toronto by storm with Israeli food start-up.

Last June, in a move emblematic of these pandemic-battered times, Galya ended up in new career after being laid off from her long-time job due to COVID-19’s financial fallout. Drawing on her passion for and expertise in Israeli food, she joined forces with her designer daughter, Shani, to embark on a culinary adventure called Galya Loves Food that has since taken root and flourished in Toronto and beyond.

The extraordinary Israeli line of culinary treats – with its gourmet Jerusalem Hummus as the original marquee product – includes Heavenly Labaneh, Halvah Mousse, Smoky (roasted) Eggplant, Creamy Tahini, Magic Red roasted peppers, Baba Ganoush, Pecan Crunch roasted nuts, and Tel Aviv Delights, gluten-free date cookies, all lovingly and singlehandedly crafted by Galya and Shani. Using only the freshest, pure and simple ingredients, the products contain no additives or preservatives. Simply and elegantly hand-packaged in glass jars, the range is also offered as stunning, customized gifts called Joy in a Basket.

Heavenly Tangy Labaneh, $8.95

Tomato Spread, $8.95

Pecan Crunch, $9.95

Joy In a Basket, $95

“Food is love and love is food,” continued Galya. “Shani and I know food brings people together, and it’s great to see that many people clearly love Israeli food as much as we do. We’re both passionate about our food, its appearance, and the history of Israeli food and culture so we want to share the knowledge and love behind it. Without a doubt, love is our secret ingredient.”

Galya Loves Food products are available at selected Greenhouse Juice Co., Aba’s Bagel Company, Brodflour, Coco Market, Mimi and Ry Produce, What a Bagel Forest Hill, What a Bagel St. Clair W., and the 100 Mile Store in Creemore.
