Louis Vuitton unveils the LVKV-02 GMR 6, an extraordinary timepiece crafted in collaboration with master watchmaker Kari Voutilainen. This second installment in Louis Vuitton’s ongoing series with independent horologists is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship and a shared passion for innovation. The Louis Vuitton x Kari Voutilainen LVKV-02 GMR 6 is more than a watch—it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, heritage, and the spirit of travel. Designed for discerning collectors, this timepiece represents the pinnacle of independent watchmaking and luxury savoir-faire.
The LVKV-02 GMR 6 blends Voutilainen’s meticulous hand-finishing with Louis Vuitton’s legacy of luxury. Both brands, having entered the world of fine watchmaking in 2002, bring their expertise to this exclusive creation. This collaboration not only celebrates their horological excellence but also supports independent watchmaking through the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives.

Housed in a 40.5mm case of rare tantalum with platinum accents, the LVKV-02 GMR 6 exudes elegance. The Escale case design, with its signature lugs echoing Louis Vuitton’s iconic trunks, reinforces the Maison’s deep connection to travel. Hand-polished finishes and intricate detailing elevate the timepiece’s aesthetic appeal.

The gold dial is a canvas of artistry, featuring hand-painted miniature details by Maryna Bossy and hand-engraved guilloché from Voutilainen’s workshop. The second time zone subdial, adorned with a sun and moon motif in Louis Vuitton’s signature saffron and blue, underscores the watch’s travel-oriented essence.

At its heart lies the meticulously crafted LVOUTILAINEN movement, showcasing dual escapement wheels for enhanced efficiency and precision. The retrograde power reserve display and second time zone function ensure both practicality and mechanical excellence. Visible through an open case back, the movement is adorned with a kaleidoscopic miniature painting, exemplifying the fusion of art and horology.

Each of the five individually numbered timepieces is housed in a bespoke Louis Vuitton travel trunk, handcrafted in the Maison’s Asnières atelier. Echoing the watch’s intricate details, these trunks are hand-painted and engraved with “Louis cruises with Kari,” making each set a collector’s treasure.
