Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2027: The Art of Ergonomie

by Iris

For Spring-Summer 2027, Louis Vuitton Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière explores “Ergonomie,” placing the human body, movement and functionality at the heart of the collection. Inspired by the intuitive relationship between body, object and action, the collection reinterprets Louis Vuitton’s heritage of lightness, travel and functional design through a distinctly modern lens. This concept comes to life against a static cityscape, where singular figures move through the urban landscape with the weightlessness of feathers or balloons, creating a striking contrast between stillness and motion.

Rather than imposing a fixed silhouette, the clothes are designed to move with the body. Fluid garments mould to the wearer like a second skin, responding to every shift and gesture while maintaining a sense of structure without rigidity. Tailoring is reengineered with internal layers removed, creating streamlined silhouettes that feel instinctive, effortless and remarkably light.

This sense of weightlessness is expressed through double- and triple-layered chiffons, carré silks, and silk-and-cashmere scarf fabrics, while knitwear defines the body and footwear provides a grounding contrast. Beneath their seemingly simple forms lies intricate construction, with different surface tensions designed to follow the body in motion.
